HLTAID016 – Manage First Aid Services and Resources – equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively coordinate and manage first aid services, including the allocation and maintenance of resources, in a workplace or community setting. This unit is ideal for workplace safety officers, health and safety managers, and team leaders responsible for overseeing first aid operations in environments such as construction sites, offices, schools, and event venues.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to develop, implement, and monitor first-aid strategies, ensuring that first-aid services are readily available and properly maintained. The training covers managing first aid equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, and organising appropriate training for staff. Participants will also learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of first-aid responses and procedures, manage reporting systems, and ensure that adequate resources are in place to meet the needs of the workplace or community.

Upon completing HLTAID016 – Manage First Aid Services and Resources, participants will be equipped to manage first aid operations confidently, ensuring that their organisation is prepared for emergencies with well-maintained resources and trained personnel. This training is essential for creating a safe and compliant environment.

This course is ideal for individuals who are responsible for managing first aid services in a workplace or community setting, including:
Workplace health and safety officers
Managers and supervisors
First aid coordinators
Individuals responsible for organizing first aid at events or in community groups.

  • This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

  • Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

    Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours
    Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour

  • Participants must have the physical capacity to establish and maintain first aid facilities and equipment.

    Participants must have literacy skills to complete documentation and read instructions.

    Online study options: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

  • Performance tasks:

    Conduct a Risk Assessment
    Develop a First Aid Response Plan
    Conduct a First Aid Kit Content Check
    Complete a Notifiable Incident Report Form
    Participate in a Debrief and Evaluation Session
    Maintain First Aid Equipment
    Theory assessment - A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions.
